What is it?
The wrinkles and the sagging are the answer to the signs of skin aging due to the loss of elasticity and volume, in particular, the loss of hyaluronic acid whose mission is to absorb water and provide firmness in the skin and by the lower manufacture of Collagen.
The expression lines appear as a result of an excess in the contraction of the facial muscles. They usually appear on the eyebrows, in front and around the eyes and mouth.
Who does it affect?
It affects anyone. They usually appear from the age of 35-40 in both men and women.
Causes
They arise as a natural process of aging and as a consequence of the expression and gestures we perform day after day. Its appearance is predetermined by genetic factors, but can be accelerated by excessive sun, smoking and poor diet.
Treatment
What does it consist of?
To improve the signs of aging, hyaluronic acid is applied through micro-injections to restore lost turgidity in a discrete and natural way. It’s applied to improve the nasogenian furrows (around the mouth), frown, cheekbones and neckline.
In order to relax the muscles, it’s advised to apply botulinum toxin in the affected areas such as the forehead and the frown, achieving visible results but always preserving the natural expression of the face.
In some cases, hyaluronic acid is necessary when, despite the botulinum toxin, it’s not possible to completely eliminate the wrinkle. The reason is that the botulinum toxin relaxes the musculature responsible for the frown, and consequently the relaxation of the skin that is above, but because the person takes years or decades making that gesture, the wrinkle is so deep that it needs to be repaired with hyaluronic acid.
Both treatments are fully compatible and in fact it’s very frequent to have to do both, the same day or on different days. The combination of the two provides a very good or excellent result.
It’s painful?
This treatment is not painful. Even so, topical anesthesia is applied in the area to be treated to minimize any discomfort for the patient.
How many sessions are needed?
With a single session the desired results are achieved. A review is performed 15 days after the treatment.
How long does the treatment last?
It varies greatly between different patients. Now the effect usually lasts between 9-12 months.
